How to buy Australian Dollars

Whether it’s a beach break to Bondi, a wildlife tour of Queensland’s rainforests, or catching a cricket match or two, there’s so much to do in Australia and plenty of activities to plan. We’ll help you tick one box off your holiday checklist before your adventure to the Outback when you buy Australian dollars online or at your nearest John Lewis Bureau de Change.

Start your journey down under

Australia is famous for many things: beautiful sunshine, picturesque coasts and reefs, and of course - the local kangaroos and koalas. Not to mention their heritage and iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and Uluru. Foodies can also delight in their legendary brunch scene and world-class coffee culture.

Whatever you decide to do on your visit, travelling to Australia can be an action-packed experience. Even flying there from the UK can be an adventure of its own, especially when long layovers and multiple flights are involved. We’ll try to make buying and selling currency as easy-going as the typical Aussie, so you have one less thing to worry about.

We sell Australian dollars in-store at our Bureau de Change locations and online. Online orders can be collected from a John Lewis or Waitrose branch near you, or delivered straight to your door by the next working day.

Sell your leftover AUD

After your trip to Australia, we’ll buy back any Australian Dollar notes you have left over and exchange them back into pounds.

If your holiday to Australia is cancelled, you can return your Australian Dollars for a full refund within 35 days of the purchase date. If you’re making a return, bring your original order receipt or order confirmation with you.

We’ll only be able to buy back and accept returns for currency in-store, so just pop into any John Lewis Bureau de Change branch with a valid ID and your Australian Dollars. We will not be able to buy back coins and can only accept banknotes.
