What countries use Canadian dollars?
The bright lights of Toronto, the scenic mountain views of Vancouver and the breathtaking sights of Niagara Falls have inspired Brits to travel across the pond to Canada for many years. Whether you’re off on holiday to the Great White North or visiting family and friends, you can buy Canadian dollars from us before you go.
When you order Canadian dollars online, we’ll deliver your travel money straight to your door by the next working day. Your online orders can also be collected from a Waitrose or John Lewis store at your branch’s earliest pick up date. Canadian dollars are also available to buy at one of our Bureaux de Change, so you can buy them while shopping at John Lewis for your new winter coat or hiking boots
You can sell your Canadian Dollar notes if you have any leftover after your holiday. We buy back currency in-store, so just pop into your local John Lewis Bureau de Change branch with a valid form of ID and your Canadian dollars.
If your holiday is cancelled, you can return your Canadian dollars for a full refund within 35 days of the purchase date. Make sure you have your original order receipt or order confirmation when you make the return. Please note returns and buy backs can only be made in-store.
The Canadian Dollar is the official currency of Canada, and it is the only country that uses it as its official tender.
Although the United States is one of Canada’s few close neighbours, you won’t be able to use US dollars in the country.
The Canadian dollar is the official and only currency used throughout Canada. If you plan to travel to the USA and Canada on your holiday, you can buy US dollars online or in any of our Bureaux de Change.
Exchange rates online may vary from those offered in-store.
We sell Canadian dollars online and in-store. You can check today’s online rates on our main currency page. Today’s in-store buy and sell rates can be found on the Bureau de Change store locator.
For online orders, you can buy between £250 to £2,500 worth of Canadian dollars. If you’re travelling with more than $10,000 CAN into Canada, you will need to declare the amount at customs when you arrive at border control. This applies to entries by air travel and car.
